| | F.A.Q. - 1. When can I start flying?
- Probably today! Call me and I'll make sure you get into the air.
- 2. Is it hard to learn?
- Not at all. Flying an airplane is easy to learn with a knowledgeable instructor to help you. Believe it or not, you will do most of the flying from day one.
- 3. Is it safe?
- I feel that it is the safest transportation and fun available. Good maintenance and skill level make it safe. That's why you start flying with me before you start flying on your own.
- 4. How soon can you go solo?
- You can fly the airplane by yourself as soon as you learn proficiency in basic maneuvers and safe operating procedures. The day I sign you off to solo, you'll remember forever!
- 5. What does it cost to get a private pilot's license?
- $4,000 to $6,000. The exact cost depends on how quickly you learn, how much time you have to study, and how much time you have to fly. It's all up to you.
- 6. How long does it take?
- Time in the airplane and time spent studying will determine this. You can get it in less than three months, but on average, it is six. Your pace is up to your availability.
- 7. If the aircraft's engine quits, what happens?
- You land the airplane as you would with it running. Airplanes glide very well, and are very controllable with the engine off. Engines rarely fail, but if they do, we would be able to land it safely. I will teach you how.
- 8. How do I qualify for a student pilot certificate?
- You must be 17 or older, read, speak, and write English, and hold a third class medical certificate.
- 9. If I have a physical disability, is there any provision for obtaining a medical certificate?
- Yes. Talk to an AME. I can refer you to one if you don't know one. Contact me and I'll give you their phone number.
